Definition
妇 is a bound form (b.f.) meaning 'woman, married woman, or wife'. It cannot stand alone in modern Chinese; you will only see it as a component in compound words such as 妇女 (woman), 夫妇 (husband and wife), 孕妇 (pregnant woman), and 主妇 (housewife). The free-standing word for 'woman' is 女人 (nǚrén).
