Definition
威 is a bound morpheme (b.f.) — it cannot stand alone as a word in modern Chinese. It carries the meaning of power, might, or authority and appears in compound words like 威力 (wēilì, power/force), 威信 (wēixìn, prestige), 威严 (wēiyán, dignity/authority), and 权威 (quánwēi, authority). You will not use 威 by itself; always combine it with another morpheme.
