Definition
实事 refers to practical, concrete matters or factual reality, as opposed to abstract theories or empty talk. It appears frequently in fixed phrases like 办实事 'do practical things' and 实事求是 'seek truth from facts'. Note that while the dictionary occasionally lists 'true story', that sense is rare in modern Chinese; the word almost always means 'practical matters'.
