Definition
家父 is a humble term (谦辞) used to refer to one's own father when speaking to someone else. It's a polite and respectful way to say 'my father' in formal or respectful contexts, especially when the listener is not a close friend. The opposite term for the other person's father is 令尊 (lìngzūn). Using 家父 shows cultural awareness of Chinese politeness conventions.
