Definition
尺 (chǐ) is both a unit of length (about 1/3 meter) used as a classifier and a word for 'ruler' (a measuring tool). As a noun for the tool, it is interchangeable with 尺子 (chǐ zi), though 尺子 is slightly more common in everyday speech. The abstract word 尺度 (chǐ dù) means 'standard, yardstick' and is a separate sense.
