Definition
层面 (céng miàn) is used for abstract 'aspects' or 'levels' (e.g. social, psychological) — often with 从…来看 ('from a…perspective'). 层次 (céng cì) focuses on concrete or graded 'layers' (e.g. high/low level of skill or quality); 水平 (shuǐ píng) refers to a person's proficiency or standard. Use 层面 when you mean a facet or plane of analysis.
