Definition
已然 is a formal/literary expression used in written Chinese to indicate that something has already become a fact or is already in a certain state. It often appears in constructions like 已然 + adjective/verb, or as part of the phrase 已然成为… ('has already become…'). Unlike the more colloquial 已经, 已然 carries a more solemn, conclusive tone and is most common in news reports, essays, and official documents.
