Definition
幸运 is the most general word for 'lucky' or 'luck', usable as both an adjective and a noun. Unlike 好运 (good luck, noun only) or 运气 (luck, noun), 幸运 can describe a person's situation directly (我很幸运). It's less formal than 吉祥 or 吉利 (auspicious, used for occasions/objects) and lacks the 'by chance' nuance of 侥幸.
