废品 (fèi pǐn) refers to scrap or discarded material — items that are no longer usable and are often recycled. It differs from 次品 (cì pǐn), which are slightly flawed products still sold at a discount ('seconds'), and from 废物 (fèi wù), which is more general waste and can also mean a worthless person (a derogatory term).
