Definition
归队 is a separable verb (离合词, verbal-object) meaning 'to rejoin one's unit'. It splits when duration, measure words, or the experiential aspect particle 过 come between the syllables: e.g., 归过一次队 ('rejoined the unit once'). Originally a military term, it is now also used figuratively to mean 'return to one's former profession or field of expertise'.
