Definition
想起 is a separable verb (离合词) formed by the verb 想 ('to think') and the directional complement 起 ('up/arise'), meaning 'to recall, to think of, or to remember something that comes to mind'. It can be split: the negative form is 想不起 ('can't recall'), and the potential form is 想得起来 ('able to recall'). The object of memory usually follows the whole word, but when split, elements like 不 or 得 go between 想 and 起.
