Definition
成名 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to become famous'. It can split: 成 and 名 can have aspect markers or measure words inserted between them, e.g. 成了名 ('became famous') or 成过一次名 ('became famous once'). Unlike English, you do not put the person after 成名 — the person is the subject: 他成名了 ('He became famous').
