Definition
手语 refers to sign language, a visual-manual language used by deaf communities. The dictionary also lists 'play stringed instruments' as a gloss, but that is an error — the correct term for playing stringed instruments is 弹琴 (tán qín). For learners, 手语 is a concrete noun describing a language like any other, often used with verbs like 使用 (to use) or 学习 (to learn).
