Definition
扑朔迷离 is a four-character idiom (chengyu) from a classical folk poem. Literally describing a rabbit whose gender is impossible to tell when it's running (male with bushy fur, female with half-closed eyes), it is used to describe situations that are so complex and confusing that the truth is hard to discern. You can use it for mysteries, intricate plots, or any unclear situation.
