Definition
扛 (káng) means to lift a heavy object onto one's shoulder (often with both hands) or to carry something heavy together. It contrasts with 抬 (tái), which is lifting with hands (e.g., a stretcher) without placing on the shoulder, and with 拎 (līn), which is carrying by hand or handle. For abstract burdens, 扛 is more colloquial than 担 (dān) or 承载 (chéng zài).
