Definition
抗 is a bound morpheme (b.f.) meaning 'to resist, oppose, or fight against'. It never stands alone as a full verb — you always find it as the first or second element in compound words such as 抵抗 (dǐkàng, to resist), 反抗 (fǎnkàng, to rebel), 抗日 (kàngrì, resistance against Japan), 抗议 (kàngyì, to protest), and 抗争 (kàngzhēng, to struggle). As a high-level HSK 7 item, mastering these compounds is more important than memorizing a single abstract gloss.
