Definition
抢 (qiǎng) means to grab, snatch, or rush for something, often in a competitive or urgent situation. Unlike 偷 (tōu 'steal'), which is done secretly, 抢 is open and forceful; unlike 抓 (zhuā 'grasp'), 抢 implies taking something that others also want. It is more direct than 争夺 (zhēngduó 'contend for') and less formal than 抢劫 (qiǎngjié 'rob').
