报警 (bào jǐng) means 'to call the police' in an emergency (burglary, fire, accident). Unlike 举报 (jù bào, reporting wrongdoing to authorities) or 报案 (bào àn, filing a case report), 报警 is specifically about contacting the police for immediate help. It's a separable verb: 报过警, 报一次警.
