Definition
挽回 retrieves or salvages an abstract situation (face, loss, game). Unlike 挽救 (wǎnjiù) 'rescue from danger', 挽回 focuses on regaining something lost or reversing a bad outcome. It's abstract—contrast with concrete 回收 (recycle) and 打捞 (salvage from water).
