搭 (dā) is a colloquial verb for putting up simple structures, taking public transport, or adding/matching. For 'ride', it's less formal than 乘坐/乘 (chéngzuò/chéng) and 搭乘 (dāchéng); for 'build', it's for temporary setups, while 搭建 (dājiàn) is more formal.
