Definition
摸 (mō) is the basic verb for physically touching or feeling something, and can also mean to grope or probe, like feeling your way in the dark. 摸索 (mōsuǒ, HSK7) is more specific for fumbling or exploring a method by trial and error; 试探 (shìtan, HSK7) means to sound out someone's intentions or test the waters in a social situation.
