改行 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to change one's profession/occupation'. You can separate 改 and 行 to insert measure words, durations, or other elements — for example, 改过两回行 ('changed occupations twice') or 改了三回行 ('changed occupations three times'). The object or complement always goes between the two syllables, not after the whole word.
