Definition
改革 (gǎi gé) refers to systematic, institutional reform — changing policies, systems, or organizations. It is broader than 改良 (gǎi liáng 'to improve'), which is incremental and about refining existing things, and different from 改造 (gǎi zào 'to transform'), which implies physical or structural remodeling. 变革 (biàn gé) is more radical, and 革新 (gé xīn) focuses on innovation.
