Definition
文字 (wén zì) is the general word for written characters, script, or writing — it refers to the symbols of a writing system. It is more concrete than 文 (wén), which can also mean 'culture' or 'literature'. For the 'wording' sense, 文字 focuses on written style, while 说法 (shuō fǎ) refers to how something is expressed (spoken or written) as a formulation.
