Definition
无业 is a separable verb (离合词) meaning 'to be unemployed' or 'to have no property/asset'. The verb 无 and the noun 业 can split when adding aspect or measure words, like 无了业 ('lost one's job') or 无过业 ('has never had a job'). It often refers to being out of work, but can also describe someone without real estate or land.
