无微不至 (wú wēi-bú zhì) — meticulous; thorough in every detail

Definition

A chengyu describing care or service so thorough it misses nothing — usually about how someone looks after another person, stronger than 仔细 and 精心. Distinguish from 一丝不苟 (about the doer's own attitude) and 百般 (about the many methods tried).

A drawing of the thing itself, worn down over three thousand years into a few strokes.

This origin belongs to the traditional form 無; 无 is its simplified writing.

For the simplified 无, the story is about 無. 無 drew a person dancing with ox tails held in both hands to pray for rain, then was borrowed for 'have no', so the picture does not explain that meaning.

The old form showed 𡵂 (a variant of 美, a person with long hair) and 攵 (a hand with a tool) splitting or combing hairs, hence minute; 微 later added 彳 to emphasize action.
