Definition
无情 (wú qíng) means completely without pity, compassion, or feeling — 'heartless, merciless'. It differs from 残忍 (cán rěn) and 残酷 (cán kù), which emphasize cruelty or causing suffering, and from 冷酷 (lěng kù, 'cold-hearted'), which focuses on a cold demeanor. 狠 (hěn) is more about fierce determination or harshness in action, whereas 无情 stresses the total absence of emotional connection.
