Definition
无非 (wú fēi) is a formal adverb meaning 'nothing but, merely' — it emphasizes that something is no more than what is stated, often with a dismissive or simplifying tone. It is more literary than the everyday 只是 (zhǐ shì), and unlike 净 (jìng) which often carries a complaining tone, 无非 is neutral in register. It is not used to introduce a sole condition like 唯有 (wéi yǒu).
