Definition
日前 (rì qián) is a formal, written term meaning 'a few days ago' — it refers only to the recent past, not the future. Unlike 近日 (jìn rì), which can also mean 'in the next few days', 日前 is strictly past. It is more specific than 最近 (zuì jìn 'recently'), which covers a broader time span and can include the near future.
