Definition
显性 (xiǎnxìng) is a formal adjective meaning 'conspicuous, obvious', often used in academic or technical contexts (e.g. genetics: 'dominant'). Unlike 明显 (míngxiǎn) or 显然 (xiǎnrán), which are everyday words for 'clearly visible' or 'evidently', 显性 emphasizes a trait that is inherently manifest or dominant, not just easily seen. It is less common in casual speech than 显眼 (xiǎnyǎn, 'eye-catching').
