机密 (jī mì) refers to secrets or classified information, especially of an official, government, or business nature. It is more formal and specific than the general word 秘密 (mì mì), which can be used for any kind of secret (personal, private, etc.). As an adjective, 机密 describes documents or materials marked 'classified', while 秘密 is broader in usage.
