森林 (sēnlín) is a general term for a large, dense forest area, often natural or protected. 树林 (shùlín) is smaller, like a grove or woods, and feels more everyday; 丛林 (cónglín) is a jungle, thicker and more tropical. 森林 is the broadest, neutral word you'll use most often.
