Definition
此致 (cǐ zhì) is a fixed phrase used only at the end of a formal letter to introduce a polite closing salutation (e.g., 此致 敬礼 'respectfully yours'). Unlike the standalone verb 致 (zhì), which means 'to send/express' in other contexts (致电, 致谢), 此致 is a formulaic expression that cannot be used alone or in other sentence positions.
