Definition
氧气 (yǎng qì) specifically refers to the chemical element oxygen (O₂), the gas that humans and animals breathe in. It is a type of 气体 (qì tǐ, any gaseous substance) and a component of 空气 (kōng qì, the air around us). Unlike 空气, which is a mixture of gases, 氧气 is a single pure gas.
