Definition
濒临 (bīn lín) means 'to be on the verge of' and is used for negative or critical situations (e.g., collapse, crisis). It is more formal than 临近 (lín jìn), which can be neutral for time or space, and unlike 靠近 (kào jìn) it does not describe physical approach. 即将 (jí jiāng) is an adverb meaning 'soon', while 濒临 is a verb.
