Definition
片面 (piàn miàn) means “one-sided” — it stresses that a view or decision is incomplete or biased, often with a negative tone. For neutral unilateral actions (e.g. a decision by one party), 单方面 (dān fāng miàn) is more common; 单边 (dān biān) is more formal, used in trade/politics. 片面 is not used for neutral “one-sided” in the same way.
