Definition
猛 (měng) describes something fierce, violent, or intense (e.g., a tiger, a storm) and also a person who is brave and valiant. It is more general than 猛烈 (fierce in force) and 凶猛 (ferocious, of beasts), and more colloquial than 英勇 (heroic, formal). In slang, 猛 means 'awesome, amazing', similar to 牛 (niú) but less frequent than 厉害 (lìhai) for impressive ability.
