Definition
猜 is the basic, everyday verb for 'to guess' — used in casual conversation (猜谜语, 猜年龄). The more formal siblings 猜测 and 推测 imply a reasoned conjecture or inference based on evidence, while 猜 is a simple guess. 猜想 and 揣测 are even more literary or technical.
