Definition
玻璃 (bō li) is the material 'glass' — a hard, transparent substance used in windows, bottles, or as a raw material. Don't confuse it with 杯子 (bēi zi), which is a drinking vessel (cup or glass) that is often (but not always) made of glass. Whereas 玻璃 names the material itself, 杯子 names the container.
