Definition
瓜分 (guā fēn) means 'to carve up' — dividing territory, resources, or assets in a forceful, unfair way, often by multiple parties. Unlike 划分 (huà fēn) 'to divide/demarcate' or 分割 (fēn gē) 'to partition', 瓜分 carries a negative connotation of predatory plunder, as in colonial powers carving up a country.
