Definition
留名 means 'to leave a good reputation' or 'to be remembered for one's achievements'. It's a verb-object compound (离合词) — the two syllables can separate: when you add aspect markers like 了, measure words like 个, or duration, they go between 留 and 名, e.g., 留了好名 (left a good name), 留个名 (leave a name). You cannot just put an object after 留名; instead use 给某人留名 or separate.
