盗版 specifically refers to the unauthorized copying or distribution of copyrighted material (pirated copies). Unlike 非法 (any illegal activity), 盗版 is limited to intellectual property infringement. It can be used as a noun (“pirated copy”) or a verb (“to pirate”).
