Definition
离职 (lí zhí) means to leave one's job and can refer to either a temporary break (e.g., for study) or a permanent resignation. It differs from 辞职 (cí zhí), which always means a permanent resignation, and from 请假 (qǐng jià), which means to request short‑term leave without leaving the job.
