Definition
秘书 (mìshū) is the general term for a secretary or administrative assistant in any workplace. It differs from 书记 (shūjì), which specifically refers to the secretary of a Communist Party committee or a chief official – a political title, not an administrative role. The sibling 秘密 (mìmì) is a separate word meaning 'a secret' and is not confusable.
