Definition
称为 (chēng wéi) is a formal, written way to say 'be called/known as', used in definitions, titles, and official contexts. It is more formal than the everyday 叫 (jiào) and slightly more formal than 叫作 (jiào zuò). Unlike 号称 (hào chēng), which can imply an exaggerated claim, 称为 is neutral.
