Definition
称谓 refers to the term or title used to address someone in Chinese, such as kinship terms (舅舅, 阿姨), professional titles (老师, 医生), or honorifics (先生, 太太). Choosing the right 称谓 is culturally important—it shows respect, reflects social hierarchy, and varies by region and relationship. Note that the verb 'to address someone as' is expressed by 称呼 or 称, not 称谓 itself.
