Definition
移交 (yí jiāo) means 'to transfer, to hand over' in a formal, official sense — used for duties, property, documents, or even prisoners. It is more formal and specific than 交 (jiāo, general 'hand in'), and unlike 递 (dì, physically pass something), 移交 emphasizes a change of responsibility or custody. Compared to 交代 (jiāo dài), which includes giving instructions, 移交 focuses on the transfer itself.
