Definition
稳定 (wěn dìng) is the most common, all-purpose word for 'stable' or 'to stabilize' — used for prices, emotions, politics, and relationships. It is broader than 平稳 (píng wěn, smooth and steady, often for processes) and 稳固 (wěn gù, firmly established, for foundations). The shorter 稳 (wěn) is more colloquial and appears in set phrases like 站稳 (to stand firm).
