Definition
穿插 means to insert or intersperse one thing among others, often in a sequence or arrangement. It can be used literally (weaving one material through another) or figuratively (inserting a task, story, or activity between others). It also has a specific sense of 'alternating turns' or 'doing in rotation'. The word is common in narrative contexts (穿插一个故事 'insert a story') and in scheduling (穿插休息时间 'insert rest time').
