Definition
籍 is a bound form (b.f.) — it cannot stand alone and always appears as part of a compound word. It has two broad sense clusters: 'book/record' (in 书籍 'books', 古籍 'ancient texts') and 'registered status/place' (in 国籍 'nationality', 户籍 'household registration', 原籍 'one's ancestral home'). When you see 籍 in a compound, context determines which sense is active.
